At Sprouts Community Food Charity, we believe that everyone deserves access to good food, supportive community spaces, and opportunities to thrive, regardless of income, background, or circumstance.
Based in Stockton and Thornaby, our mission is to improve the nutritional, physical, and mental health of local communities. We work especially with vulnerable groups, children and families, and BAME communities, creating inclusive, non-judgemental spaces where people can learn, grow, and connect.
Along with our partners, we address health inequalities across the borough through a wide range of community-led initiatives, and our work reduces food waste and environmental harm. This is achieved by collecting surplus food from local supermarkets and redistributing it through our shops and workshops. Every project is designed not just to meet immediate needs, but to build long-term resilience through friendship, education, and a deep sense of belonging.
We’re powered by an amazing team of volunteers, who give their time, energy and compassion every week to make this work possible. Our incredible workforce was rewarded with the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest recognition a UK charity can receive.
Whether you’d like to volunteer, join a session, or partner with us, we’d love to hear from you.
